Shannon R. Wissmar, CPA: Certification, Education, and Experience
Ms. Wissmar is licensed as a WV CPA by the WV Board of Accountancy. Before obtaining her CPA certification, she attended the West Virginia University (WVU) Institute of Technology, where she received a Bachelor of Science in accounting with minors in finance and economics.
In her previous role as the finance director at Human Resource Development & Employment, Inc., Ms. Wissmar managed the financial operations of a multifaceted non-profit corporation. This work included the following:
- Creating annual budgets and analyzing budgeting variances;
- Assisting independent accounting firms with audits and income tax returns;
- Supervising bookkeeping, accounts payable, and payroll staff;
- Ensuring compliance with and completing reports for government agencies; and
- Communicating financial information to management and staff.
Ms. Wissmar also has substantial experience as a controller, financial manager, and staff accountant in the healthcare industry. This work included managing financial operations for HealthSouth (now Encompass Health) and Healthworks Rehab & Fitness, where her duties included financial forecasting, reporting, and auditing as well as management of contracts, employee supervision, and coordination of legal assistance and insurance policies.
In her time away from work, Ms. Wissmar enjoys reading, baking, and cooking. The mother of a son who plays basketball and swims and a daughter who dances, she spends much of her time at practices, games, meets, recitals, and competitions.
